standard analog audiovisual sources as part of a
Genesis teaching session.
For example, an instructor may bring in a videotape
or DVD and broadcast the program live and in
real-time to all student stations in the Genesis
lab.
An A/V Control Interface is included in the main
Genesis Instructor Panel which allows the instructor
to select A/V devices, control playback and sound
levels and choose broadcast destinations such as an
overhead projector or student computer screens.
The students viewing live A/V broadcasts see the
video in their individual Live Broadcast Players or
in full-screen mode.

The optional Genesis
VOD System allows students and instructors to play
high quality video and audio clips over a campus
network. The VOD system and its media are accessed
via special web pages, allowing for connection from
any campus computer. |
The
Genesis VOD System includes system software and
powerful video server hardware. The system can
broadcast dozens of different videos simultaneously
to different connected students. A unique feature of
the Genesis VOD system is that the instructor has
the ability to fully control broadcasting from the
VOD system, as well as to allow students to browse
and select their own videos.
When using instructor controls, videos can be
broadcast to any or all students, leaving full
viewing control up to the instructor.
Students can also access stored media files at any
time (unless restricted by the “Access Time Control”
feature) and from any computer.
Instructors and Administrators can also make use of
the web-based management system for media, account
and access management. The VOD management system
allows you to manage the media library easily
through functions such as add, delete, upload, etc.
The system supports the industry standard ASF, WMV,
WMA and MP3 file formats. |

SpeechMate Digital Audio Recorder |
SpeechMate
is an interactive digital media recorder for use in language
and speech training. Using native language audio and video
materials, students are able to watch and listen to a Master
Program Track while simultaneously recording
their
own voice for comparison.
In a classroom setting, the
instructor has the option of controlling all student SpeechMate modules or letting
students work individually at their own pace.
Lesson preparation is a
snap with Speechmate. Audiovisual materials are easily
enhanced with subtitles, and exercises to test student
proficiency and comprehension.
Interacting with SpeechMate
is easy. The software contains many powerful features to
enhance conversation and comprehension skills. Students can
adjust the speed of the Master Program Track without
affecting the speaker’s voice pitch. Bookmarks make it easy
to jump to frequently used passages for continued practice.
And a voice waveform shows students a visual representation
of the audio being heard.
